Kofradia – Itsas Etxea offers visitors the chance to savour the true taste of the sea. Here in the home of fishermen, you’ll find the best fresh fish caught by the Basque inshore fishing fleet using sustainable fishing methods, which not only improves the quality of the fish but also guarantees the sustainability of the fishing grounds and the conservation of the marine resources.

A space that honours the culture, history and daily lives of Basque fishermen. A window onto the sea, where visitors can taste fish caught by authentic Basque fishermen and delivered fresh off the boat. You’ll find anchovies caught by the Santana Berria from Getaria at five o’clock in the morning and white tuna caught by the Itsas Eder and unloaded in Pasaia before dawn. You won’t get a typical Basque steak, or prawns or even mussels. But you can choose from the best fish caught off the coast: anchovies, white tuna, bluefin tuna, mackerel, hake, horse mackerel, sardines, sea bass, octopus, and red scorpion.
